We are all set to go for camp on Sunday! The plan is to meet at the Church gym at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday morning and leave by 9:30. Checkin for the camp begins at 2:30 in the afternoon. I expect it to take around 4 1/2 hours to get there, so arrival time should be around 3:00 p.m.
We have four parents who have volunteered to drive: Heidi Sunny, Amy Long, Karen Dixon, and Cathy Demoor. Because I have a wedding to go to on Saturday in VA, about an hour away from the camp, I will not be there on Sunday morning. Heidi Sunny will be the point person. Heidi will actually be staying at the camp during the week as a volunteer nurse. She will need two envelopes from each student:
- One envelope will be $5 for gas.
- The other will be $15 for food (McDonalds or the like) on the way there and back. After stopping to eat on the way, kids can put their leftover money in their food envelope and give it to Heidi to hold for the trip back (Heidi will collect these envelopes after the kids eat on Sunday).
Make sure your envelopes have names on them!
Also, some of you have asked about Doe Bucks, which is what the camp uses for snacks and knickknack purchases instead of cash, since the kids will be in their swimsuits half the week. The great thing is that parents can see online how much money their kids have left in their Doe Bucks account (and even what they spent their DB on) and, if needed, can add money to their account at anytime online. All the money left over will automatically be refunded within a week of the camp’s end, unless you choose to donate that leftover money to a DRG scholarship fund.
Let me know if you have anymore questions about Sunday or Doe Bucks. If it is a question that others may be curious about, just respond in the comment section below for everyone’s sake!
