News about Kroger Cards

Effective immediately, all money that comes in for the Kroger Gift Cards will now be allocated to a general youth account, rather than to designated individuals. The short of it is that the law requires it and there is no getting around it. While this may seem less than ideal, I think it is a great opportunity for us think about the kids in our youth in the way Christ teaches us to when he challenges our tightly defined categories of family (Mk. 3:35; Mt. 12:48-50), of neighbor (Lk. 10:25-37), of those we feel a responsibility to care for (Mt. 25:31-46).

That said, the money already in designated accounts that came in through December 31 can still be redeemed by those individuals for whom it was allocated. You may prepay for youth events/expenses that will occur by April 30, e.g., Weds. night meals, the Ski Retreat (Feb. 15-17, $165).

Blessings!
